FFPD Organizational Restructuring Discussions
At the September 15, 2009 Board of Directors meeting, a decision was made to restructure the Foothills Fire Department. An interview committee was approved to begin the process of converting the current volunteer Chief position, to a full-time, paid Fire Chief.
The interview committee was headed up by the FFPD Board President, T.J. Carney and consisted of 4 other members: Patrick Ahern & Dave Stajcar (current Foothills Firefighters), and Ed Daniels & Tom Hobson (community members and past Foothills Firefighters / Fire Chiefs). NOTE: No member of the interview committee was an applicant, or the spouse or parent or sibling of an applicant, and no applicant was able to appoint or designate a member to the interview committee.
At the December 15, 2009 Board meeting, the interview committee recommended two candidates to the Board, Patrick Reitz of Sheridan, Wyoming and John Kilpatrick of Golden, Colorado. After discussion, the board voted to attempt to reach terms with Mr. Kilpatrick to become the new Paid Fire Chief effective January 1, 2009.
